AMAROCKS!

Rock band program (ages 9-15)

AMAROCKS! is making its debut as a weekly ensemble class at American Music Academy's Bellaire studio!

Born from the overwhelming success of our popular AMAROCKS! Summer Camp, this exciting new semester-long program gives students the opportunity to experience what it's like to be part of a real band—all year long.

Led by Mr. Nick and Mr. Jacob, AMAROCKS! is designed for students who are ready to take their playing beyond private lessons and into a collaborative musical setting. Through weekly rehearsals, students will develop essential ensemble skills, improve communication and musicianship, build confidence, and learn what it takes to prepare for a live performance.

Whether students are new to playing with others or already have ensemble experience, AMAROCKS! offers a fun, supportive environment where they can grow as musicians while making lasting friendships. Playing in a band teaches valuable skills that can't be learned alone, including listening, teamwork, stage presence, and adapting to other musicians in real time.

Because every member plays an important role in the ensemble, consistent attendance is essential to the success of the group. Weekly rehearsals build upon one another, and each student's preparation directly impacts the band's progress. For this reason, attendance is required throughout the semester, and makeup classes are not available for student absences. Makeup rehearsals will only be offered if a class must be canceled due to an instructor or academy scheduling issue.

Each semester culminates in a live performance, giving students the chance to showcase everything they've accomplished and experience the excitement of performing together on stage.

If your child is ready to turn practice into performance, AMAROCKS! is the perfect place to make music, build confidence, and rock out with friends!

Why Choose AMA?

At the American Music Academy, we believe that everyone should experience the joy of making music. Our goal is to provide an environment of education that is welcoming to all ages. Coming from generations of musicians, founders Wyatt and Laura Coleman have hand selected a team of professional and passionate musicians to bring quality music education to Houstonians. Our faculty has instrument-specific degrees from acclaimed universities all around the country. Our teachers tailor their music lessons to each student based on their individual goals. We offer the most comprehensive lessons in Houston, which include theory, ear training, sight reading technique, performance skills, and repertoire. Our brand new, state-of-the-art facilities located in Meyerland include a comfortable lounge with free Wi-Fi, water, magazines, and toys for children to play with as they wait for their lesson to begin. Spacious studio rooms are equipped with quality upright pianos, music stands, and mirrors to monitor progress. The American Music Academy takes pride in supplying our students with the best upright pianos to practice their modern or classical repertoire. Students will be able to use the full capabilities of a piano including dynamics, pedaling, musical phrasing, and dramatic interpretation. Students will be able to participate in seasonal recitals at one of Houston’s many venues. Recitals, included in their tuition, display each student’s personal achievements in their instrument. Our students have the option to perform piano, guitar, violin, viola, voice/singing, cello, and drums!
